What is a forum?
A forum is like a bulletin board. By clicking on the link below (the
word FORUM), you will be taken to a page where you can visualize the categories and
questions that have already been posted. They are presented as threads. By clicking on a
question, you can read the full text version and have the option of answering it. If you
wish, you can post a new question yourself. These options are all found on the top of the
forum page.
These postings are asynchronous, that is, not in real time. Your question(s) will be left
there for anyone who has access to be able to answer. People can look at what is up there
at their own convenience. The fact that it is not real time is an advantage, for many
times scheduling which involves many people can be difficult. You can feel free to answer
any questions or post a question there yourself. The more people contribute, the better
for all.
ATTENTION: Forum is not a chat. Don't expect people to answer you right away. It's the same thing as posting things on a bulletin board and waiting for someone to answer you.
Do I have to go to the forum always to check if there is anything new?
Fortunately, no. There is an option in the initial instructions that says that you may want to add an alert: "If you want to follow this discussion by email, click here to add an alert. "
If you click on that link (the underlined blue words in the forum page), you will be required to give your email address and the frequency you want to be alerted. If you choose to do so, every time someone posts something new on the forum, you will receive that posting in your email! That way, you can follow the latest news without bothering to have to go back to the forum page, unless you want to. It's a very convenient way to keep updated.
How do I start?
To participate in the discussion group, just click on the link FORUM below. You will be taken to a question and answer forum. Feel free to post a new question, or answer a question that's already been posted. Maybe someone else's question is the same as yours. Join us!
When you want to add a question, click on new question at the top. (the blue underlined words are always links) You will be taken to a page with some fields to be filled out. Please make sure you fill in all the information correctly, so others may get back to you. Once you've filled out the fields, just press submit, and you're in! It's easy. Try it out!
